What a great experience hosting Chuck! He is an excellent songwriter and performer who can read / respond to the audience, on stage and off. He performed in a duo and knew when to come forward, when to let the other shine. Musical talent, engaging, professional, and respectful of his listeners. I definitely recommend him!

Artists who have worked with Chuck testify to his professionalism as a musician:
“Chuck is a consummate pro: reliable, trustworthy, dependable. I can always count on him to know the material and put his heart and soul into it.”
–Heather Waters, singer, songwriter, recording artist
“Whether we were touring, recording, rehearsing or just hanging out, Chuck was always there when needed. He always gave me one hundred percent. More like one fifty.”
–Leslie King, singer, songwriter, recording artist with the band BARDO.
“Chuck never fails to deliver a great performance. He’s original, authentic, and a rare musical talent.”
–Lisa Hayes, leader of the Violets, star of film “Road to Austin”
Chuck Bramlet’s years of experience as a music industry professional are strikingly apparent every time he plays. His medium is acoustic fingerstyle, a lyrical approach that encompasses an amazingly wide variety of songs and styles.
His tools are two Guild dreadnought guitars, one in standard tuning, and one in a modified drop-tuning. During live performances, he records and plays back live using a loop station, layering original arrangements of melody tracks with a composer’s care. These on-the-fly arrangements create a stunning “wall of sound” that unbelievably come from only one performer.
Chuck favors an aesthetic of live playing that relies on instantaneous inspiration and improvisation. “It has to be right and in the groove,” he notes; “that being said, it should sound alive, and there should be room to take chances.” His ambient, moody approach to songs appeals to all age groups. From current pop hits all the way back to early folk and traditional favorites and from early Stax and Motown to hard rock and soul of the sixties and seventies to old Appalachian ballads, Chuck can cover a wide range of styles and tastes.
He is equally at home in the background or front and center-stage.
Chuck’s roots as a professional musician go way back. He was a member of Rebel Train, an EastWest America band. He was a founding member of Lisa Hayes and the Violets, another major label artist (Atlantic Records). He recorded and toured with Gingersol (Trampoline Records) and BARDO. He has performed a number of times at SXSW and toured with widely respected country artist Heather Waters as part of a duo for two years, providing the sole instrumentation.
Although Chuck has logged in countless hours in the studio, his playing is anything but slick and predictable. He favors the natural, unadorned sound of the traditional steel-string guitar. He developed an early love for American and European folk idioms when he first picked up the guitar at age eight. His reverence for finger style players like John Fahey and John Renbourn is accompanied by a love of artists as diverse as Robert Johnson and Doc Watson. He has also grown to love jazz artists like Wes Montgomery, Gabor Szabo and Johnny Smith. Chuck’s approach to the guitar reflects his admiration for these great artists.
